Interconnection to other Municipalities

Whether you want to sell or buy water from an adjacent municipality ESL can help you determine the proper location for the connection and requirements to boost or reduce the pressure at the connection.

Interconnections are part of a sound water system.  They allow you to maintain good water quality by moving water to another user and creating revenue.  Alternately an interconnection can allow you to have back-up capacity during high demands or service interruptions.  ESL can help you with every step from testing on each side of both municipalities, to specifying needed equipment and construction oversight.

  • Assess the reliability of the proposed source
  • Determine how much volume can be delivered at connection
  • Establish High and Low Hydraulic Gradients on both
  • sides of the connection location
  • Properly size required meters and backflow devices
  • Determine appropriate water line extensions
  • Size and specify required equipment such as booster
  • pumps or pressure-reducing valves
